JOB TITLE: Audiologist
GOVERNMENT AGENCY & LOCATION:

POSITION TIMING: Immediate hire upon Contract Award and completion of all background and security investigations. Candidates must be willing to sign a Letter of Intent for submission with their resume.
SALARY: Starting at $180,000/year (depending on experience)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic audiology services to veterans at the VA Medical Center
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat hearing, balance, and related auditory disorders in veterans, ensuring the highest standard of care; services include both in-clinic care and telehealth consultations as needed
- Comprehensive audiometric evaluations and diagnostic testing for hearing and balance disorders
- Hearing aid evaluations, fittings, programming, and maintenance
- Counseling veterans on hearing loss prevention, auditory rehabilitation, and communication strategies
- Coordinating and conducting tele-audiology services as necessary
- Maintaining compliance with VA policies and federal healthcare delivery and patient safety regulations
- Use audiometers, impedance bridges, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing to diagnose hearing and balance disorders
- Administer hearing aid consultations, fittings, and programming using evidence-based practices. Educate on proper device usage and maintenance
- Develop and implement individualized auditory rehabilitation plans, including providing veterans with aural rehabilitation training, assistive listening devices, and communication strategies
- Counsel veterans and their families on hearing health, protective measures, and available hearing loss treatment and management resources
- Work closely with ENT specialists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care coordination
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with VA policies and federal regulations, ensuring timely entry into electronic health records (EHR)
- Timely completion of all diagnostic evaluations within prescribed timeframes
- Implement treatment plans that meet the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) guidelines
- Regular follow-ups for hearing aid services to ensure devices are functioning optimally and meet patient needs
- Delivery of tele-audiology services in accordance with established VA protocols
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one year in Audiology and Board Certified
- Must speak, understand, read and write English fluently
- Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Must have unencumbered licensure in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
- Must be a US Citizen or have evidence of Permanent Residency
EDUCATION:
- Current Audiologist licensure in the state of Louisiana
- Doctor of Audiology (Au. D.) degree from an accredited institution
- Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent
