Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing dedicated special education support across Carbon and Lehigh Counties. This contract assignment offers the rewarding opportunity to work as an itinerant Special Education Teacher, filling essential roles in multiple school sites throughout the academic year. You’ll cover classroom needs as they arise, ensuring students continue to receive quality instruction and support—even in the absence of their regular teacher.

Key qualifications:

  • Valid and active Pennsylvania teaching license
  • Pennsylvania PDE Certification in Special Education PK-12 (via Experience-Based Certificate, Instructional I, or Instructional II in relevant subject areas)
  • Previous experience working with students in special education environments
  • Proven ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Must be able to work in-person; remote work is not permitted
  • Willingness to travel within an assigned geographic area of Carbon or Lehigh County
  • Documentation of licensure and certification via TIMS upon request

Primary responsibilities:

  • Serve as a substitute or coverage teacher across designated classrooms and sites
  • Step in for both short-term absences and longer leaves as required
  • Implement instructional strategies according to students’ IEP requirements
  • Collaborate with school staff, support teams, and families for the benefit of each student
  • Participate in IEP meetings and professional development as necessary
  • Adapt teaching methods to environment and caseload as you serve diverse settings

This role follows the academic calendar, beginning mid-August and concluding in June, with a schedule of 35 hours per week. Each day promises variety, meaningful engagement, and the opportunity to impact students’ educational journeys in significant ways.

If you are a committed and compassionate special education teacher with a passion for supporting students’ unique learning paths, we invite you to apply today! Take the next step in your career and help ensure every learner receives the support they deserve.
