Job Summary
The Grinding Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining grinding machines to produce precision parts and components that meet exact specifications. The Grinding Operator plays a key role in maintaining product quality, meeting production targets, and ensuring safe operation of equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding machines (OD, surface, and centerless) according to engineering drawings and process instructions
- Perform precision grinding operations on a variety of components, including hardened alloys, stainless steels, and aerospace-grade materials
- Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Maintain part quality and production rates within established tolerances
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure proper handling of tooling and fixtures
- Work independently to identify process improvements and troubleshoot grinding issues
- Train and mentor junior operators as needed

Core Competencies & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of grinding experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Proven experience with CNC grinding equipment
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, GD&T, and process documentation
- Proven experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and surface finish comparators
- Ability to setup and troubleshoot grinding machines independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a thermal spray coating environment
- Familiarity with Aerospace and defense materials (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy, Stainless Steels)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing

Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, bend, lift for extended periods of time
- Lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly
- Use hands and fingers to operate tools, machinery, and equipment
- Work in environment that may include exposure to noise, heat, dust or chemicals
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
