Duties
- Assess patient respiratory status through vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and comprehensive physical examinations.
- Administer and monitor respiratory therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and medication delivery.
- Manage ventilators and assist with airway management procedures for patients in ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or emergency settings.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans tailored to individual needs across acute care, critical care, and outpatient environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective respiratory care strategies for trauma, pulmonology, geriatrics, pediatrics, and other specialties.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, patient responses, medication administration, and vital signs in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations such as airway obstructions or respiratory distress by providing critical interventions following Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Respiratory Therapist from an accredited program; current licensure or registration as required by state law.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine with exposure to emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I Trauma Centers, or Level II Trauma Centers preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy.
- Hands-on experience with ventilator management, airway procedures, and acute care interventions.
- Familiarity with pediatric and geriatric patient populations; clinic and outpatient experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs and oxygenation status; excellent communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated competence in medication administration related to respiratory treatments, understanding of hospital protocols for inpatient care.
