Job Summary: The Payroll Manager will develop strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a common understanding of all the transactions impacting payroll. The role will be responsible for employee data maintenance and integrity, maintaining compliance with state and local payroll requirements, and interacting with all levels within the organization. This position will require strong problem-solving skills, excellent organization, and strong communication skills.


General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll information for 5,000+ employees while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Establish and maintain payroll standards and guidelines in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws including but not limited to compliance, process documentation, and end-user job aids/training guides.
  • Administration of Payroll system, including policy configuration and management in Paylocity, processing of timesheets, and reporting.
  • Ensure proper taxation and withholding of all statutory withholdings and voluntary deductions, including the maintenance and execution of data files to internal teams and third-party vendors. (i.e. 401k, GL)
  • Ensure CBA compliance regarding all payroll matters.
  • Manage full-cycle payroll adjustments.
  • Provide day-to-day support and issue resolution related to payroll, time, and system inquiries, proactively communicating with impacted employees, managers, and HR.
  • Prepare and compile payroll-related reports and statistics for financial institutions, government, HR, and accounting departments.
  • Assist with processing and tracking garnishments, unemployment, court orders, 401K, and Union dues withholding.
  • Maintain compliance of proper tax code setup for employees on federal, state, and local levels.
  • Respond to inquiries from technicians in a timely manner.
  • Provide ownership of data maintenance on employee accounts.
  • Resolve and track payroll issues and address all payroll-related questions.
  • Communicate payroll policies to employees.
  • Maintain accurate payroll-related documentation and make necessary updates.
  • W-2 preparation and year-end process support.
  • Communicate internally with the Operations, IT, Payroll, Accounting, and Human Resources departments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of payroll administrative experience running multi-state and multi-FEIN payroll.
  • Knowledge of employee tax compliance, including state, unemployment, and local taxes.
  • Able to operate independently as well as within a team environment and perform duties that require good judgment, collaboration, attention to detail, and initiative.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor with an emphasis on people management skills.
  • The ability to problem solve, maintain composure, and work well within a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, coordinate, and implement efficient processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll processing systems (Paylocity preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • CPP preferred.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $65,000- $90,000, plus benefits as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The compensation information displayed on each job posting reflects the range for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
