Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Production Planner to support daily production planning and execution within our fabrication and assembly operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate job setup, schedule alignment, and material readiness to support customer needs and on-time delivery.
The key functions of this role is executing and maintaining detailed production schedules (daily/weekly/monthly) for the shop floor that are aligned to the production schedule established by the Sr. Production Scheduler. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, engineering, and sales-to ensure optimal workflow and delivery performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution
- Execute and maintain detailed short-term production schedules (daily/weekly/monthly) based on direction from the Sr. Production Scheduler.
- Translate the 2-3 month production schedule into actionable shop floor priorities and sequencing.
- Coordinate daily production schedules and priorities with shop supervision.
- Create, release, and maintain jobs in Epicor
- Job creation, updates, and closure
- Method validation and routing accuracy
- Monitor job start dates and due dates and daily execution progress
- Escalate capacity constraints, material shortages, and sequencing conflicts
- Partner with Supply Chain to ensure material availability and visibility to support production schedule
Operational Support
- Maintain accurate production schedules & job trackers
- Provide clear visibility into job status
- Support release readiness by ensuring jobs are fully prepared for production
- Coordinate across departments to resolve issues impacting production flow
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree & 2+ years experience in production planning or scheduling, OR 4+ years experience in in a metal fabrication, machining, & assembly plant
- Proficient understanding of manufacturing processes (fabrication/machining a plus)
- Self-directed; Self-starter - ability to work independently and make decisions
- Working knowledge of capacity planning, scheduling strategies, and inventory management.
- Strong analytical, Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor is a plus).
- Proficiency in Excell and/or other scheduling tools.
Preferred
- Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Prior background in metal fabrication/assembly, machining, and heavy equipment industries.
Advanced Excel skills or experience with scheduling tools.
