Job Description

The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely receipt of incoming goods. This role ensures documentation integrity, workflow efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols within the receiving area. The Receiving Lead also plays a key role in leading a team of warehouse associates to maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage daily receiving operations, including unloading, inspecting, and documenting incoming shipments.

  • Ensure all received goods are accurately recorded in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and company policies in the receiving area.

  • Lead and direct a team of warehouse associates in tasks such as material handling, inventory put-away, and cycle counting.

  • Train, guide, and delegate responsibilities to team members to ensure productivity and accuracy.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with incoming shipments.

  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources as necessary to meet operational needs.

  • Communicate effectively with purchasing, inventory, and operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • 1–2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, specifically in receiving functions.

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs].

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and cycle counting procedures.
