Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Manager
Location: Evansville, IN
About the Role
As the Mechanical Engineering Manager for our client, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing mechanical engineering and design efforts across the organization's three operational divisions:

Heavy Civil Tunneling
-
Mine Development
-
OEM Equipment Manufacturing
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader to drive innovation, improve performance, and deliver mission-critical systems and equipment for high-profile infrastructure and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers to ensure technical excellence and professional growth.

Oversee all mechanical engineering activities, ensuring systems meet performance, cost, and reliability goals.

Drive design innovation in mechanical systems, including hoisting systems, shaft sinking equipment, material handling systems, and tunneling components.

Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with project objectives.

Act as the primary technical liaison with internal teams, external clients, regulatory agencies, and vendors.

Coordinate design integration across mechanical, structural, and electrical disciplines for optimized performance and constructability.

Establish and enhance engineering standards, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance protocols to improve safety and efficiency.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 10 years in engineering leadership or operations management.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Proven experience in mechanical systems design, equipment manufacturing, and integration for industrial or large-scale construction environments.

Strong knowledge of fabrication methods, hydraulic and electrical interface systems, and mechanical analysis (e.g., FEA, stress, fatigue).

Proficiency in CAD and mechanical engineering design software.

Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
