Physician Practice Enhancement is seeking a Physician Assistant to work at Bergen New Bridge Hospital full time, part time can be considered as well.
About the Role:
The Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, timely medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced emergency department setting. This position requires the ability to rapidly assess patient conditions, develop differential diagnoses, and implement appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in New Jersey.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience or clinical rotations in emergency medicine or acute care settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience as a Physician Assistant in an emergency department.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Familiarity with trauma protocols and emergency department operations.
- Strong background in procedural skills such as suturing, intubation, and central line placement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations to evaluate emergency medical conditions.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, imaging, and EKGs to guide clinical decision-making.
- Develop and implement treatment plans including prescribing medications, performing procedures, and coordinating follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with emergency physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including trauma resuscitations and critical care interventions.
- Document all patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies.
