Providing specialized care in a progressive step-down unit, this role focuses on managing general medical and oncology patients requiring intermediate level care. The position is perfect for skilled RNs with experience in PCU or step-down settings, particularly those familiar with chemotherapy administration and intravenous therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer chemotherapy via IV with strict adherence to safety protocols
  • Start and maintain IV access using sigma IV pumps and manage vital signs with Welch Allyn towers
  • Utilize EPIC system for detailed and compliant documentation
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to step-down patients including general medical and oncology cases
  • Collaborate efficiently with support staff and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Float to other medical-surgical areas, including the Acute Unit and Emergency Room, to support patient care as needed

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Current Michigan RN License and BLS certification (AHA) required
  • ONCC or ONS certification required; pending ONS acceptable
  • Minimum two years of experience in PCU or step-down nursing
  • Proven ability to manage nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6 with support adjustments for chemotherapy admissions
  • Comfortable working night shifts and managing fluctuating assignments

Schedule:

  • Night shift, 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend commitment
  • Self-scheduling available for days outside weekends; block scheduling flexibility negotiable
