Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a Med/Surg RN with strong critical care skills to provide night shift coverage at a hospital in Newburgh, IN. This role requires a night shift commitment on a 12-hour schedule from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with guaranteed 36 hours weekly (48 hours upon request), floating between nearby campuses, and three weekends scheduled every six weeks. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of Med/Surg experience, including trauma level II exposure and recent Epic charting proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to a Med/Surg patient population, including post-surgical, sepsis, COPD, CHF, and high fall risk patients
- Manage complex skills such as remote telemetry, chest tube management, NG/PEG tube care, Foley and straight catheter care, ostomies, heparin drips, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
- Utilize strong assessment and critical thinking abilities to ensure high-quality patient care
- Float within the skill set across hospital campuses with advance notice, including mid-shift floating within the same campus
- Participate in the teaching hospital environment, potentially precepting students and new hires
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active compact RN license
- Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
- At least two years of Med/Surg nursing experience and one travel assignment completed
- Recent experience with Epic electronic medical record system
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability skills; resilient and able to manage a dynamic work environment
- Flexible and socially engaging team member
