Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician – Specialized Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for maintaining peak operational performance of high-precision automated production systems. This includes advanced diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, and controls-focused maintenance on equipment such as SMT pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI and SPI systems, ultrasonic welders, wire bonders, vacuum soldering units, robotic arm cells, and automated material-handling equipment, including conveyors, loaders, and unloaders. The technician ensures all systems operate safely and efficiently, within specified performance parameters, to support uninterrupted, high-quality electronic manufacturing with minimal downtime.

We are seeking a candidate with at least three years of relevant maintenance experience and post-secondary technical education, such as a technical diploma, trade certification, or associate degree in mechatronics, electronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on SMT lines, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI and SPI systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic software/controls issues.
  • Maintain conveyors, loaders, and unloaders to ensure proper material flow and system integration.
  • Create and follow preventative maintenance schedules based on equipment performance and production needs.
  • Work with vendors and OEMs to order parts, access technical support, and maintain service documentation.
  • Document all maintenance activities, equipment failures, and repair actions accurately.
  • Follow all safety procedures and LOTO requirements.
  • Train production staff on basic equipment troubleshooting and operation.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support process improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize impact on production.
