Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Technician to play a crucial role in our development and manufacturing workflow. This position bridges the gap between Engineering and Production, focusing on first-build prototypes, production assemblies, and the repair of critical assets. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who can build from initial engineering drafts, identify discrepancies, and ensure designs are ready for full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assembly tasks for cables, prototypes, and initial production runs.
- Build and assemble first-draft units from engineering schematics, drawings, 3D models, and verbal instructions.
- Actively review assemblies for fit, form, and function; identify and report any engineering discrepancies, design flaws, or documentation errors to prevent issues on the production floor.
- Repair and refurbish field-returned assets and internal lab equipment.
- Operate standard and specialized manufacturing/test equipment (e.g., soldering stations, torque tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes).
- Conduct functional tests, record precise data in prescribed formats, and perform basic calibration checks.
- Modify and repair test equipment and prototypes per engineering specifications.
- Prepare chemical compounds and solutions as required by process instructions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety, compliance, and quality protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, prototype building, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience working with engineering "first drafts" or prototype builds in a manufacturing setting is essential.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and 3D CAD models.
- Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude with superior hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the initiative to identify and report design or documentation issues.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering/desoldering equipment, and basic test/measurement devices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely while also working independently.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or Associate’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
