Title - Registered Nurse (RN) – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: Bronx, NY 10461
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (High Potential for Extension or Permanent Placement)
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 3 Days per Week
Weekly Hours: 36 Hours

Compensation

Local Candidates

💰 $70–$80 per hour
💰 $2,500–$3,000 per week

Travelers

💰 $80–$95 per hour
💰 $2,900–$3,500 per week

Position Overview

Client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join its perioperative team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills in post-anesthesia recovery, patient assessment, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and conscious sedation monitoring.

This role requires exceptional critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to provide safe, high-quality care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess patients during Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery.
  • Provide comprehensive post-operative nursing care and patient monitoring.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Perform IV insertion, maintenance, and phlebotomy procedures.
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving conscious sedation.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations and discharge instructions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control protocols.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through NYSED.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification.
  • Current ACLS Certification.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of IV insertion experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.
  • Previous PACU or critical care experience strongly preferred.
