Job Description

Celebrating 85 Years of Building With Purpose

At Absher Construction, we're proud to celebrate over 85 years as one of the Pacific Northwest's most respected general contractors. As a 100% employee-owned company, we believe our people are our greatest asset—and we invest in them like it. From fully paid medical premiums for employees, to a generous PTO policy, 401(k) and ESOP retirement benefits, we offer a total rewards package that reflects the pride and ownership we bring to every project.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Site Safety Manager to lead and manage the implementation of Absher's Safety & Health Program on active construction sites across North King County.

In this role, you'll be the on-site safety expert responsible for ensuring every team member goes home safely each day. You'll plan, coordinate, and enforce safety procedures in accordance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and project-specific safety plans (including EM 385-1-1 requirements for federal and public works projects.)

You'll partner closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and craft workers to foster a proactive, people-first safety culture aligned with Absher's "See It, Own It" philosophy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead implementation of Absher's Safety & Health Program and jobsite Accident Prevention Plans
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard analyses, and accident investigations
  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and all applicable safety standards
  • Provide mentorship, on-the-spot coaching, and weekly toolbox talks for field teams
  • Coordinate and review subcontractor safety plans for alignment and compliance
  • Partner with field leadership to identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions
  • Maintain safety records, logs, and incident documentation
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings, jobsite orientations, and handoffs
  • Serve as the "Competent Person" for multiple disciplines (fall protection, scaffolding, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Safety Director to continuously enhance safety systems and procedures

Why You'll Be Successful

You're a proactive and visible leader who believes safety is about people, not paperwork. You lead with accountability and empathy, empowering others to recognize risks, take ownership, and speak up. You thrive in the field environment and understand that building trust is key to building a culture of safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience, or 3+ years with a 4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field
  • OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR Certifications (required)
  • EM 385-1-1 and CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred
  • 24+ hours of documented competency training in construction safety within the last 4 years
  • Experience with heavy civil, federal, or Sound Transit projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, WISHA, EM 385-1-1, and local safety regulations
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and documentation skills
  • Ability to effectively partner with project teams and subcontractors

Salary offers are typically made between the entry and midpoint of the range and are based on factors such as experience, education, and internal equity.

Pay Transparency $90,000—$135,000 USD
