At Superior Hospice, we believe the most powerful instruments aren’t just musical—they’re emotional. As a Hospice Music Volunteer, you’ll help bring peace, connection, and gentle joy to individuals nearing the end of life. Whether it’s strumming a familiar tune, humming a favorite melody, or simply sitting in quiet musical presence, your gift can transform a moment into a memory.
Why Join Our Mission?
- Shape a New Program: Be part of a pioneering team establishing a compassionate, music-integrated hospice culture.
- Flexible Scheduling: Choose when and where you volunteer—opportunities available throughout our 21-county service area.
- Hands-On Training: We’ll prepare you to enter patients' lives with skill, empathy, and confidence.
- Leave a Legacy: Help patients and families find comfort and connection through your time and talents.
Your Responsibilities:
- Visit patients in homes, nursing homes, and assisted living communities
- Play calming, uplifting, or familiar songs (guitar, piano, vocals—whatever your strength!)
- Engage patients in musical experiences—whether listening or singing along
- Provide supportive presence and emotional comfort through shared moments
- Communicate patient responses and engagement with our care team
- Participate in periodic volunteer check-ins or team gatherings
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong passion for music and its healing potential
- Respectful, compassionate demeanor with excellent listening skills
- Comfort being around individuals receiving end-of-life care
- Ability to drive to locations up to 35 miles from your home base
- Prior experience performing or sharing music in care settings is a plus but not required
Whether you’re a college student pursuing music therapy, a retiree with a guitar, or simply someone who finds meaning in melody—this role invites you to make a difference through your gift of sound.
Join us in bringing warmth, music, and humanity into hospice care. We can’t wait to meet you.
