Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our behavioral health team on a part-time basis. This role offers a flexible schedule, competitive pay, and the opportunity to expand hours over time. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional, patient-centered psychiatric care through a combination of in-person and telehealth services.
Key Responsibilities
Initial Psychiatric Evaluations

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including detailed mental health histories and symptom assessments.

Utilize evidence-based diagnostic tools to formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure holistic treatment planning.
Medication Management & Prescribing

Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with clinical best practices.

Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Educate patients on medication use, side effects, and expected outcomes.

Coordinate with primary care providers, therapists, and specialists for comprehensive care.
Follow-Up Appointments

Conduct follow-up visits to monitor progress, address concerns, and modify treatment plans.

Provide therapeutic support and connect patients with counseling or community resources.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within EHR systems.
Telehealth Services
-
Deliver high-quality psychiatric care via telehealth to patients unable to attend in-person sessions.

Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold confidentiality standards.
Collaboration & Communication

Partner with therapists, social workers, and medical staff to develop integrated treatment plans.

Provide consultation and support regarding psychiatric care and medication management.
Patient Advocacy & Support

Advocate for patient needs, connecting them with relevant support groups and mental health services.

Build strong, trusting relationships through empathy, compassion, and active listening.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
-
Active Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license in Rhode Island.

Master's degree in Nursing with a psychiatric focus from an accredited NP program.

Board certification as PMHNP-BC through the Rhode Island Board of Nursing.

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting.
Preferred:
-
Experience with evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care).

Training in substance use disorder or MAT.

Strong cultural competence and comfort working with diverse populations.

Proficiency with EHR systems and telehealth platforms.

Experience treating multiple age groups (children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics).
