Bring your dedication and expertise to a dynamic, onsite contract position supporting students with orthopedic impairments in a school-based setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to assist an Orthopedic Impairment Specialist in delivering direct support to students using walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment throughout the academic year.
You’ll travel between locations as an itinerant paraprofessional, ensuring students have the assistance and adaptive training they need to succeed and thrive in their educational environment. With a strong administrative background and experience supporting diverse learners, your skills will make a real difference in these students’ daily experiences.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional or instructional assistant in school settings
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Training with assistive technology and mobility devices required
- CNA or medical background preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish required
- Experience in California schools highly preferred
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist OI Specialist in classrooms and around campus with monitoring and supporting students using mobility equipment
- Provide guidance and training to students and staff on safe use of assistive technology and mobility devices
- Track equipment use, maintain safety protocols, and document student progress
- Support students’ participation in both academic and school activities, helping foster inclusive education
- Communicate effectively with faculty, specialists, and families
