Job Title: Surgical Technologist – Adult Operating Room (Level 1 Trauma Center)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | Days/Evenings | 8-hour or combined 8/12-hour shifts
Duration: Long-term
Position Overview:
A leading Medical University is seeking experienced Surgical Technologists to join our Adult Operating Room team in a dynamic and high-acuity environment. As a vital part of a Level 1 Trauma Center, you will contribute to a wide range of complex surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams to deliver the highest quality of perioperative care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments prior to procedures
- Scrub in and assist during various surgical specialties including:
- General, Orthopedic, ENT, Vascular, GYN, Neurosurgery, Bariatric, Trauma, and GU
- Maintain sterile fields and follow all aseptic techniques
- Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures efficiently and accurately
- Track and manage surgical tools and sterile supplies
- Support safe and efficient room turnover and instrument sterilization
- Collaborate with RNs, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to ensure optimal outcomes
- Accurately document intraoperative activities per hospital protocols
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of recent scrub tech experience (within the last 4 years) in an acute care OR setting
- Experience in general surgery and at least 3 of the following specialties: orthopedic, neurosurgery, vascular, trauma, ENT, bariatric, GU, GYN
- Scrub experience required (First Assist not permitted under NYS regulations)
- CST certification (NBSTSA or NCCT) strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function independently and adapt in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior work experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement
