Job Title: Controls Technician Apprentice
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Controls Technician Apprentice to join our team, specializing in HVAC and industrial process systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with installing, terminating, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and project specifications. As well as assisting with developing the ability to startup and verify PLC systems. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test electrical wiring, control panels, and instrumentation for HVAC and industrial process systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
- Ensure all terminations meet required standards, including proper labeling, routing, and connections.
- Perform quality control checks and testing to confirm proper system operation.
- Work with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to ensure installations meet project requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty wiring, control circuits, and system components as needed.
- Follow safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test results, modifications, and system configurations.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with commissioning and startup activities for HVAC and industrial process control systems.
- Develop the knowledge and abilities required load and troubleshoot Simens PLC programs.
- Use PLC programs to startup and verify functionality of HVAC and industrial equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant trade school education preferred.
- Experience in electrical installation and termination, preferably in HVAC or industrial process systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
- Understanding of electrical wiring, low-voltage control systems, and termination best practices.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and test equipment effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of PLC systems beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
