We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Director/Manager to join our team in Oakland, California. In this role, you will provide leadership and expertise in corporate tax compliance, income tax provisions, and related processes. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain integrity and accessibility of tax-sensitive data throughout the entire tax lifecycle
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of key tax processes to identify and implement optimal solutions in the new environment
  • Collaborate with tax teams to design accurate, well-controlled tax data, analytics, and automation processes
  • Ensure seamless integration with PowerPlan tax modules and other core tax systems
  • Create workshop materials to educate SMEs and support informed decision-making
  • Co-lead and facilitate workshops with SI Partner, ensuring focus and alignment
  • Document and critically review deliverable content for accuracy and quality
  • Support the development and review of test scenarios and test scripts
  • Act as SME in cross-functional workshops to confirm tax requirements and assess integration impacts
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively develop innovative solutions
  • Contribute to benchmarking efforts, including industry sessions and conferences, to share and adopt best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of tax experience in a public company and Big Four, including 5+ years managing research/planning and/or audit processes
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in or implementing S4
  • Hands-on expertise in tax accounting, tax return compliance, and tax fixed asset processes
  • Knowledge of sales/use tax and property tax processes
  • PowerTax (tax module and repairs module) experience
  • Strong understanding of regulatory processes
  • Experience supporting regulatory audits or intervenor data requests
  • Advanced data visualization and presentation skills for complex information
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed environment with strong execution focus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365
  • Ability to analyze complex systems, drive strategic decision-making, and recommend improvements
  • Skilled at drafting and developing internal communications
  • Familiarity with Lean or other process improvement methodologies
  • Experience with process mapping and creating process improvement solutions
  • Ability to perform under pressure, remove barriers, and address organizational gaps
  • Capable of developing strategies and operational plans, communicating them, and monitoring results
  • Skilled at identifying, evaluating, and resolving critical tax risks
  • Proactive in creating sustainable value for company
