Job Description

This role supports a busy fabrication shop by assisting with fiberglass production and repair work, including cutting materials, grinding, sawing, mixing resin, and helping fabricators with hand‑laying fiberglass materials. The position also includes general shop duties such as blasting, painting, operating a forklift, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace in a manufacturing environment where fiberglass is the primary material and respirator use is required.

Responsibilities

• Support fabricators with fiberglass fabrication and repair projects, including assisting during the hand‑laying of fiberglass materials.
• Cut, grind, and saw materials accurately according to project specifications.
• Mix resin and prepare fiberglass materials and components for production and repair tasks.
• Assist the lead with cutting, prepping, stacking, and organizing materials for fabrication work.
• Perform general shop tasks such as blasting and painting as directed.
• Operate a forklift to move materials and products safely within the shop.
• Maintain housekeeping standards by cleaning and organizing the workspace at the end of each day or at the completion of a project.
• Wear and properly use a respirator and other required personal protective equipment when working with dusty fiberglass and related materials.
• Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and guidelines during daily operations.
• Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or safety concerns to management promptly.

Essential Skills

• Experience with general production or fabrication work in a shop or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform grinding, cutting, and sawing tasks using appropriate tools.
• Hands-on experience working with fiberglass materials or a strong willingness to learn.
• Ability to safely mix resin and handle related materials.
• Capability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn forklift operation in accordance with safety procedures.
• Strong commitment to following safety regulations, company policies, and guidelines.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and practice good housekeeping habits.
• Willingness and ability to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment when working with fiberglass and dust.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions from leads and fabricators.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment.
• Prior exposure to blasting and painting processes in an industrial setting.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools used for cutting, grinding, and fabrication.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support fabricators and leads on various projects.
• Reliability and punctuality in meeting work schedules and project timelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
