Pay rate: $50-$53 hourly
Position Summary:
The Surgical Technician  is responsible for assisting surgeons and other medical professionals in operating rooms during surgical procedures. The Surgical Tech ensures a sterile environment, prepares instruments and supplies, and anticipates the needs of the surgical team to facilitate safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize the operating room before surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are sterile and functional.
- Scrub, gown, and glove according to aseptic techniques and assist the surgical team as a scrub technician during procedures.
- Pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assistants during surgery.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by maintaining familiarity with the procedure and surgical instruments.
- Maintain a sterile field, ensuring adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery with the circulating nurse.
- Handle specimens properly, labeling and transporting them as required.
- Assist with the preparation and draping of the surgical site.
- Clean and restock the operating room following each procedure.
- Assist with patient care activities as directed by the RN or surgical team.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain current certification and competency in surgical technology.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification:
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or required depending on state regulations.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
 
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 year of experience in an operating room or surgical setting preferred.
- Experience in various specialties (e.g., general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, or cardiovascular) is an asset.
 - Call required: On Call requirement 1 night a week and 1 weekend per 4 weeks
