Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in supporting and executing key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and employee engagement. This position serves as a trusted resource for employees and leaders, providing guidance on policies, employment laws, and best practices. The Generalist fosters a positive and compliant work environment by ensuring consistent delivery and continuous improvement of HR programs and services.

Position Responsibilities

  • Administer and execute human resource programs across key areas including compensation, benefits, leave management, employee relations, performance and talent management, occupational health and safety, training and development, engagement and retention, and the UIHV HR email box and voicemail.
  • Process payroll transactions accurately, including wages, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and other deductions. Ensure timely updates for new hires, terminations, pay changes, and employment status updates.
  • Manage benefits administration, including onboarding, open enrollment, and changes related to health, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement, COBRA, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims. Serve as a point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
  • Reconcile insurance invoices monthly by the 10th and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and audit accurate HRIS records and reports. Support audits by preparing and submitting the required documentation.
  • Act as liaison for HRIS and benefits vendors. Maintain vendor communication logs and address system issues.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assigned HR functions.
  • Support full-cycle recruitment including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, pre-employment processes, onboarding, and orientation. Partner with managers to align job descriptions and required competencies with organizational needs.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding policies, workplace concerns, and employment law compliance (e.g., OSHA, EEOC, ADA). Refer complex matters appropriately to HR Manager and/or HR Director.
  • Monitor and ensure employee file compliance with required training, licensure, certifications, and competency documentation.
  • Generate HR metrics and reports for leadership and track KPIs.
  • Participate in employee relations activities including investigations, coaching, disciplinary meetings, and terminations.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of employee and leadership training initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee engagement and company events to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Stay current on HR trends, best practices, technologies, and employment law changes.
  • Perform additional HR-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the HRIS system.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
  • Proficient with ADP Workforce Now.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.


Expected Work Hours and Location

Generally, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional nights and weekends. Days and hours are subject to change with notice.
