Job Title: RN Float - Behavioral Health
Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (0.9 FTE)
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts, Every Other Weekend and Holiday Required, No On-Call Requirement
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Health team. This float position will work under the supervision of the Unit Director and the guidance of the Charge Nurse, providing high-quality, individualized patient care. The RN will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, and collaborate with the treatment team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role may require floating to various inpatient units within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Nursing Admission Assessments to identify patient strengths, weaknesses, and needs while developing Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP) informed by age, disability, culture, and religion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to attend Treatment Planning Conferences and ensure patient care aligns with the Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan (MTP).
- Administer medications and treatments as per established policies and procedures, while assessing effects on patients.
- Participate in quality improvement activities by collecting accurate data on established indicators and patient care processes.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, reporting environmental hazards as per established policies.
- Provide appropriate educational materials and learning opportunities tailored to each patient’s age, culture, and disability level.
- Document patient progress and care accurately and timely in the medical record according to hospital standards.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff and nursing students, providing guidance and support.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health experience; 2 years preferred.
- Computer literacy and competency in required electronic health record systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and patient care.
- Knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan, including cultural competence.
Education & Licensure:
- Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Required: Valid State Professional Registered Nurse License or multi-state compact license, BLS certification.
