Job Title: Laser / CNC Operator

Department: Manufacturing

Position Type: Temp-to-Perm

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Wage Range: $20 – $24/hour (DOE) Position Summary:

The Laser / CNC Operator is a key member of the manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining both laser cutting machines and the new Protek “die-less” CNC Flatbed Cutting machine. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, computer-savvy, and quality-focused, with at least 2 years of CNC experience and the ability to read part drawings and use standard measuring tools. Job Responsibilities:

Laser Operations:

• Load and edit machine programs

• Load material into sheet bays

• Maintain cutting quality while ensuring efficient feed rates

• Perform first-part and random inspections following job protocols

• Ensure all parts meet prescribed quality standards

• Remove and stack finished parts from laser-cut skeletons

• Perform routine laser maintenance (startup/shutdown, window cleaning, nozzle centering, cleaning dust bins, replacing cutting beds)

• Conduct advanced laser maintenance (changing lenses, realigning optical paths, minor pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical repairs)

• Follow manufacturer maintenance schedules and perform necessary repairs

• Optimize laser programs to maximize material yield and minimize machine time

CNC Die-Less Cutting Operations:

• Interpret work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans

• Program and operate CNC mills and knife cutters, including zeroing and setting reference points

• Set up equipment by installing and adjusting tools, chucks, and attachments

• Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols

• Perform and document preventive maintenance tasks

• Log production activities and quality checks as required

• Communicate effectively to maintain workflow and consistency across shifts

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of CNC machine operating experience

• Strong understanding of machine programming and setup

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

• Proficient with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.)

• Comfortable using computers and learning new machine interfaces

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; bilingual skills are a plus
