Get Involved: Citizen Advisory Boards, Committees, and Commission.
A community's greatest resource is its people. In Des Moines, Citizen Advisory Boards and Committees give residents a meaningful way to get involved and help shape local decisions. These groups provide the City Council with valuable insights and perspectives that lead to better-informed policies and programs.
In addition to standing boards, the City Council also creates special boards, committees, or Commission to focus on specific issues. These ad hoc groups are formed for a particular purpose-such as updating a master plan or advising on a policy matter-and they meet as needed until their work is complete.
