Painting & Construction Estimator
About the Role We're seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to prepare accurate bids for residential and commercial painting projects. This role is key to our continued growth and increasing focus on commercial contract work. Prior estimating experience preferred but will train a strong candidate in our estimating processes and the specifics of the painting trade.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, specs, and scope documents to produce material and labor takeoffs
- Conduct site visits/walkthroughs to assess surface conditions, access, and project scope
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Track material pricing and labor rates to keep estimates current
- Build and submit competitive bid proposals, including for GC/commercial bid packages
- Coordinate with project managers and crews to ensure estimates align with field execution
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project history in CRM software
- Follow up on submitted bids and assist with contract negotiation as needed
Qualifications
- 2+ years of estimating experience in painting, construction, or related trades preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, or similar tools
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- The ability to create and maintain relationships with clients
- Must be motivated and sales driven
- Valid driver's license for site visits
