Job Title: Childcare Program Support Specialist
Location: Providence House Minot
Status: Full-Time | Hourly
Compensation: $21/hour

Position Overview

Providence House Minot is seeking an experienced Childcare Program Support Specialist to provide structured, safe, and developmentally appropriate care for children whose mothers are participating in residential substance use disorder treatment.

This role is responsible for creating a stable, nurturing childcare environment while supporting family-centered programming within a recovery-focused setting.

The primary function of this position is childcare. Secondary program support duties may be assigned as needed to maintain facility structure and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities – Childcare

• Supervise and care for children while mothers attend treatment programming
• Create a safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate educational, recreational, and creative activities
• Support children’s physical, emotional, and social development
• Model positive communication and healthy routines
• Guide children in cooperation, responsibility, and respectful behavior
• Assist with snacks, meals, hygiene routines, and structured daily transitions
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe childcare areas
• Document observations, participation, and any incidents in a timely and accurate manner

Family-Centered Support

• Support programming designed to strengthen mother-child relationships
• Encourage positive interaction between mothers and children
• Communicate child-related concerns to program leadership

Secondary Program Support (As Needed)

• Assist with structured facility monitoring as directed
• Support transitions between activities
• Assist with documentation and basic operational tasks

Requirements

• Experience working in childcare, preschool, or licensed daycare settings
• Ability to maintain professionalism within a behavioral health environment
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire
• Completion of Narcan training
• Pass background check and drug screening
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with 42 CFR Part 2

Preferred

• Early childhood education training or certification
• Experience working with families impacted by substance use
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles

Work Environment

This position operates within a residential treatment facility serving women with substance use disorders and their children. The role requires active supervision of children, standing for extended periods, and engagement in structured activities throughout the day.

Full-time employees are scheduled at a minimum of 36 hours per week. Evening and weekend availability may be required.
