Job DescriptionZips is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be responsible for managing complex accounting processes, supporting technical accounting areas, and ensuring a timely and accurate month-end close. The ideal candidate will have experience in ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and strong knowledge of GAAP-based financial reporting. Experience working in a multi-site retail environment is highly preferred.Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparation and review of account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- work with leaders in the team on monthly and quarterly reporting requirements
- Oversee daily transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger postings, and bank reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting and assist with related schedules, entries, and disclosures
- Support the implementation and maintenance of FinQuery (Lease Accounting Software)
- Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition principles to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of revenue streams
- Utilize FloQast for close management, reconciliations, and task tracking (experience a plus)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and field teams to support accurate reporting across multiple sites
- Work with Accounting Manager to continually improve accounting procedures and internal controls
- Provide audit support and documentation to external auditors during annual financial audits
- Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed
- Initiate and/or complete additional duties to support the company’s continued growth
Required SkillsRequirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA or Master’s in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or multi-unit retail experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 842 and ASC 606
- Experience with FinQuery or other lease accounting platforms preferred
- Experience using FloQast for reconciliations and close management a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems preferred
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary during peak periods
