Optometric Technician/Assistant


Eye Associates of Elkins Park, a full-scope medical optometric practice, and we are looking for a new member to join our team. Duties will include patient pretesting and diagnostic testing, preparing and assisting patients for and during eye exams, and assisting patients with contact lens education. We have the latest equipment and technology to ensure that we provide the utmost care for our patients alongside our electronic health records system. So, we are looking for someone who is passionate, driven, who enjoys working in this industry, and a vibrant team-player who shares our obligation to delivering the highest quality of care possible.


The scope of the practice:

General eye exams and Contact Lenses
Dry eye Disease
Cataract management/co-management
Myopia Management
Glaucoma management/co-management
Retinal disease management/co-management
Keratoconus/ Sclerals

•\tHigh School Diploma or equivalent required
•\tCertified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification is desired but not a must
•\tAbility to be flexible and adaptable
•\tExceptional interpersonal and communication (telephone) skills
•\tData entry and typing skills
•\tAbility to work in a fast-paced environment

RESPONSIBILITIES
•\tAs the Optometric Technician your primary job function is to work with the Optometrist to
provide exceptional patient care by gathering all patient information necessary to
complete a proper diagnosis
•\tInterview patients and document ocular and medical histories
•\tPerform preliminary testing i.e.: visual acuity, autorefraction, IOP, color vision, fundus
photos
•\tPerform diagnostic testing including automated perimetry, OCT, optical biometry and
ophthalmic photography, corneal topography, and keratometry
•\tYou will perform the initial patient examinations, and ophthalmic testing procedures, as
well as assist as directed
•\tYour top priority will be to ensure the patient receives the highest level of care as our
main goal is to make the patient experience as exemplary as possible
•\tInterview patients and document ocular and medical histories
•\tMonitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic and imaging rooms, working collaboratively
with other clinical staff.
•\tAdminister eye drops as required by the physician. (Certification Required)
