Job Summary
We are seeking dependable, safety-focused, and professional Over-the-Road Truck Drivers to join our team. This position is ideal for drivers who are comfortable staying out for extended periods and are committed to delivering freight safely and on time across long distances.
Drivers in this role are expected to remain on the road for a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks, followed by 1 full week at home. The ideal candidate will have strong trip-planning skills, a solid understanding of DOT regulations, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer to transport freight over long distances
- Remain out on the road for at least 4 weeks at a time, followed by 1 week home
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment
- Ensure freight is transported safely, securely, and delivered on time
- Maintain accurate logs and records in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and traffic laws
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding load status, delays, route changes, and delivery updates
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or violations immediately
- Secure cargo properly and verify load information before departure
- Manage time efficiently and plan routes to maximize productivity and on-time delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of truck and equipment
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers, shippers, and receivers
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license required
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable OTR driving experience preferred
- Clean driving record and strong safety history preferred
- Ability to stay out on the road for a minimum of 4 weeks at a time
- Ability to comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and MVR review
- Current DOT medical card required
- Strong knowledge of Hours of Service regulations
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELD) and use GPS/navigation systems
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dry van, reefer, flatbed, or dedicated freight
- Experience driving in multiple states and varying weather conditions
- Endorsements are a plus, depending on freight type
- Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Ability to enter and exit the cab safely multiple times per day
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, as needed
- Ability to bend, climb, reach, and secure loads when required
- Ability to work in changing weather and road conditions
