This position is not a hybrid or a remote role, it is onsite at our Lake City, MN plant. Our Engineering Tech assists in the controls development process by assembling prototype parts, troubleshooting faults and wiring products. Hearth & Home Technologies believes in the power of Lean Manufacturing. Our Engineering Techs further these goals by helping ensure product designs incorporate design for manufacturability and lean concepts. Our Engineering Techs also assist engineers in discovery and testing of electronic components and developing and maintaining test equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Organize and manage electronic components and test equipment
- Run and execute testing of controls and control systems per engineer’s request
- Solder PCB’s with through hole and surface mount devices
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning controls; rework as needed to restore functionality
- Facilitate with board bring up of new hardware
Position Requirements
- Working understanding of basic electronic components
- Ability to solder SMD and TH components onto a PCB
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Ability to operate common test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
- Ability to cut, crimp, and organize wire to make wire harnesses
- Basic understanding of PCBA production processes
- Ability to test parts and systems under engineering supervision
- Ability to flash program parts to update firmware
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office programs
- Familiarity with x86, ARM, Windows, Linux, Apple and Android devices
- Good communication skills
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, and 5-10 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience
- Launching a minimum of 5 complex projects into production
- Ability to set up tests of control systems with automation
- Basic understanding of languages such as: Python or C when used in conjunction with single board computers
- Experience in a production PCB facility
- Working in an electronics design engineering environment
- Effectively working with remote team members
