Position: Technician Assistant

Location: Oceanside, CA

Schedule:

  • Four (5) 8-hour shifts, or 3 10-hour shifts

  • Must be able to work at least one weekend day


Job Description

Lifeline Animal Urgent Care is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant (VA) to join our team. As an integral part of our veterinary care team, the VA will triage patients efficiently, will triage patients efficiently and assist the other medical team members of Lifeline Animal Urgent Care.

In addition to medical responsibilities, all team members must be willing to assist with client service tasks as needed, including answering phone calls, checking clients in and out, and creating and presenting treatment estimates.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately obtaining and reporting vital signs, promptly notifying veterinarians of any changes in patient status.

  • Efficiently triage patients, ensuring prompt assessment and prioritization of care needs.

  • Assist DVM in exam rooms, including patient restraint and record keeping as instructed.

  • Performing CPR as a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.

  • Maintaining hospital and patient cleanliness using aseptic techniques and isolation protocols.

  • Organize and stock supplies on the treatment floor, crash cart, pharmacy, and exam rooms as needed.

  • Perform surgical pack prep duties, contributing to surgical readiness and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills are typically associated with a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Required: one (1) year of experience in a veterinary emergency/ urgent care setting.

  • Required: willingness to obtain a Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) if requested by management.

  • Required: Fear Free Certification, or willingness to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

  • Required: RECOVER certified, or willing to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

  • Be able to lift 20 kgs without assistance

  • Be able to stand for long continuous periods of time.

  • Willing to work as a team with colleagues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
