1st Shift CNC Machinist
Role Overview: We are looking for a skilled CNC Programmer and Operator to manage the production of fabricated parts using CNC routers and saws. You will be responsible for everything from initial programming and setup to troubleshooting and final quality inspection. This role requires high technical autonomy and a focus on precision.
Shift Hours: 8AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday - Occasional OT.
Pay: $24-29/hr. depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming & Setup: Read blueprints to program CNC jobs; load workpieces, set offsets, and verify machine settings for first-run inspections.
- Production & Operation: Run CNC routers and saws, monitoring cycle times and part quantities to meet production goals.
- Troubleshooting: Edit programs on the fly, replace worn tooling, and resolve machine malfunctions to maintain tight tolerances.
- Quality Control: Use gauges, micrometers, and basic math (geometry/trig) to ensure all parts meet specifications.
- Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning and light preventative maintenance to keep machines running at peak efficiency.
Requirements:
- Experience: A 2-year technical degree OR 3+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced understanding of CNC tooling, materials, and plastic fabrication techniques.
- Blueprints: Ability to interpret complex drawings and translate them into machine code.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with the production team.
Physical & Work Environment:
- Physical: Must be able to stand, bend, and twist throughout the shift; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Equipment: Comfortable operating a forklift or hand cart to move materials.
- Environment: High-decibel shop environment; Safety glasses and hearing protection are required.
