Are you an actuary who enjoys turning complex data into insights that drive real decisions? Obsidian is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to play a key role in our reserving function - partnering closely with leadership, improving analytical processes, and helping shape a growing actuarial organization. The ideal candidate will excel in advanced analytics and reporting, and a strong desire to innovate within a developing or evolving process optimization space.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Perform regular reserve studies including quarterly and annual reserving requirements for Obsidian
- Prepare reserve reporting and analysis to Obsidian’s leadership team and key stakeholders
- Monitor Obsidian’s reserve position on a monthly basis focusing on actual to expected analysis across the program portfolios
- Identify and report on any loss trends or other trends that could materially impact Obsidian in the short or long term
- Leverage internal and external data to inform decisions
- Design and optimize scalable data solutions to meet our core analytical requirements for reserving and risk management
- Address data-related issues and propose solutions to improve data quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with other business partners to streamline data collection, transformation and analytical reporting
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights
- Proactively identify issues and communicate effective solutions to stakeholders
- Demonstrate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Assist in ORSA report preparation and perform stress and scenario analysis to test capital adequacy
- Help establish appropriate risk tolerances and metrics to guide decision-making on capital deployment
- Monitor all material exposures, focusing on property tail risk
- Other duties, as directed

Requirements:
- BS/BA in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or advanced analytics.
- 2+ exams to near ACAS
- 5+ years P&C experience. Experience in insurance or reinsurance in any combination of pricing, reserving, or ERM functional areas
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
- High proficiency in Microsoft SQL databases
- Experience in Python / R is a plus
- Familiarity with Power BI / Tableau is preferred
