Position Summary
The Logistics Merchandiser plays a critical role in coordinating transportation activities between customers, carriers, and the merchandising team. This position is responsible for dispatching loads, managing carrier relationships, evaluating route profitability, and ensuring efficient, cost-effective freight movement while maintaining high service standards for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the sales team to align customer schedules and transportation needs
- Dispatch loads to carriers in accordance with customer timelines
- Serve as a primary contact for customers and carriers regarding logistics questions
- Build and maintain strong carrier relationships to optimize performance and capacity
- Negotiate freight rates to minimize costs for clients
- Evaluate route profitability and identify improvements opportunities
- Support efficient, timely, and accurate execution of freight movement
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate route profitability and freight costs
- Negotiation skills and confidence working with carriers and vendors
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (preferred)
- Understanding of transportation, trucking, or logistics operations (preferred, but not required)
