We are Awaken Cafe & Roasting in Oakland, CA. We roast, prepare and sell excellent coffee and best-in-class coffee gear at our Downtown Oakland cafe and through our website. We love coffee and we love being hosts to our community: cultivating a fun, warm and welcoming environment, while emphasizing excellent customer service and high quality in all our product offerings.
Full or Part Time Available. Work weekends, both Sat/Sun.
We're looking for experienced Baristas to join our team who:
- Has 1 or more years of experience on bar at a thrid-wave coffee shop.
- Experience dialing in espresso by dose, grind, time, and yield.
- Skilled with latte art.
- Is passionate about coffee culture.
- Loves being of service to others.
- Work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment, and
- Wants to contribute to making Awaken Cafe & Roasting a highly regarded coffee business and great place to work.
Over the last three years, we've invested in brand updates, interior design upgrades, a brand new custom KB90 espresso machine, state of the art espresso grinders and equipment, stream-lined product mix, and refined our internal systems.
Compensation
- $18-20/per hour, depending on expeience
- Plus ~$8/hour in tips
- Subsidized health insurance to full time (30+ hours) team members.
Responsibilities
- Dialing in espresso to taste
- Demonstrate strong milk texture and latte art skills
- Understanding of a variety of coffee brew methods and recipes
- Demonstrate customer service excellence
- Work with efficiency and urgency
