Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Manahawkin, NJ 08050
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to safely and effectively deliver radiation treatments as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. This role involves patient care, treatment planning support, and operation of radiation therapy equipment in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer radiation treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions and safety protocols
- Monitor and document treatment delivery and patient responses
- Obtain and evaluate imaging (portal images) and implement corrective measures as needed
- Perform calculations and assist with treatment planning procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and necessary materials
- Educate patients and families on procedures, equipment, and treatment expectations
- Position and transfer patients accurately for treatment delivery
- Assist with simulation procedures using conventional and CT simulators
- Document detailed setup instructions (field size, angles, positioning, etc.)
- Construct and apply immobilization devices, shielding blocks, and bolus as required
- Perform quality assurance checks on treatment units, simulators, and equipment
- Maintain daily treatment schedules in coordination with patient care teams
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and adequate supplies in treatment areas
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel
- Assess and respond to patient needs, ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care
- Support training and education of students during clinical rotations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
Certifications & Licensure
- Current ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy required
- Valid New Jersey state license required
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years of Radiation Therapy experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based clinical environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
