Job Summary
The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex CT procedures and ensure diagnostic image quality.
- Review and document patient clinical history; scan information into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients or family members; scan into EPIC.
- Administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with physicians for clarification or additional information.
- Ensure insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications with the finance team.
- Obtain and schedule outside studies for comparison in PACS.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians.
- Evaluate radiographs in PACS for proper identification and diagnostic value.
- Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices.
- Determine and administer appropriate contrast type and dose.
- Provide clear instructions and address patient concerns regarding procedures.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled shifts, including holidays, weekends, and on-call assignments as needed.
- Adhere to organizational policies, including attendance, punctuality, and standards of behavior.
- Lift, push, and pull as required for patient care and equipment handling.
- Modify care delivery to meet patient-specific needs (e.g., age, culture, language).
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
- Understanding of CT software and hardware.
- Proficiency with PACS systems.
- ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 3 months of hire.
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
- ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of CT experience.
- Knowledge of Epic and HIS/RIS systems.
- ARRT Certified R.T.(CT) license.
