Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: On-site
Compensation: $19-$21/hour (based on experience)



Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to support medical, dental, and behavioral health billing operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for accurate claims submission, payment posting, accounts receivable management, and denial resolution while ensuring compliance with all payer and regulatory guidelines.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working high claim volumes with Medicaid, Medicare, and managed care payers.



Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate medical, dental, and behavioral health claims in a timely manner
  • Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and maintain accurate accounts receivable records
  • Monitor AR aging reports and follow up on outstanding insurance and patient balances
  • Review accounts for accuracy and process adjustments and/or refunds as appropriate
  • Appeal and resubmit denied or rejected claims
  • Maintain compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, and other third-party payer regulations
  • Stay current on payer updates and state/federal regulatory changes
  • Maintain electronic claims systems and generate required billing reports
  • Identify billing issues impacting reimbursement and communicate concerns to management
  • Support process improvement initiatives within the billing department
  • Participate in safety programs and emergency response responsibilities as required



Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical billing role
  • Hands-on experience with claims submission and appeals (Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, third-party payers)
  • Working knowledge of ICD, CPT, CDT, and HCPCS coding
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Proficiency in practice management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, copier, fax, 10-key calculator)



Preferred Qualifications

  • FQHC experience
  • eClinicalWorks (ECW) experience
  • High claims volume experience
  • Coding experience
