Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with Med/Surg expertise to provide comprehensive patient care in a well-established medical-surgical unit. This contract position offers the opportunity to work 12-hour shifts on an every-other-week schedule, delivering high-quality nursing services within a collaborative team environment.
Location:This role is based in Derry, NH, at a main hospital campus featuring a 48-bed Med/Surg unit with an average census of 27 patients. The unit is equipped with advanced technologies including Hoyer lifts, automated blood pressure machines, bladder scanners, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finders. The hospital is recognized for its strong employee retention and positive team culture.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and provide orthopedic patient care.
- Administer IV medications, including management of Lasix drip, heparin drip, IV push metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV and subQ).
- Deliver wound care, including drain management and VAC therapy.
- Manage NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition.
- Oversee central line care (PICC, HD catheter, midlines).
- Provide care for foley, nephrostomy, suprapubic catheters, and ostomies.
- Participate in postoperative patient management.
- Engage in daily multidisciplinary rounds during weekdays.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current RN license.
- Proficient in Med/Surg nursing with strong orthopedic knowledge.
- Certifications: BLS required.
- Experience with bedside documentation systems such as Altera or Allscripts Sunrise preferred.
- Ability to float to similar MST units as needed.
Schedule/Hours:
- Every other week (EOW)
- Preferred 12-hour shifts
- Float opportunities to like units within the hospital.
