Company Description MARE Riding Center is a therapeutic equestrian center dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. The organization partners trained horses with participants to promote functional mobility, strength, balance, and overall well-being. Interdisciplinary teams collaborate to design evidence-informed programs that complement traditional therapy services. Role Description This is a contracted, part-time on-site Physical Therapist role based in Bakersfield, CA. The Physical Therapist will evaluate participants, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions that will incorporate equine-assisted activities and related therapeutic exercises. Daily responsibilities include conducting assessments, documenting progress, collaborating with instructors and support staff. The role also involves educating participants and families on home exercise programs, safety, and wellness strategies, as well as contributing to program development and quality improvement. The Physical Therapist will help ensure a safe, accessible treatment environment and uphold all professional and organizational standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic exercise interventions.
  • Competence in Medicine and Patient Care principles to support safe, evidence-based clinical decision-making.
  • Current license as a Physical Therapist in the state of California.
  • Previous experience with pediatric, neurological, or orthopedic populations; experience with adaptive or therapeutic riding is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely around horses, or willingness to be trained in equine-assisted therapy safety protocols.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • CPR/BLS certification and commitment to ongoing professional development.
