Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consulting Actuary to join our team on a contract basis. In this highly visible role, you will support the Medicare Advantage Medical Economics team, partnering closely with Finance and Health Plan leadership to drive market-level decision-making.
You will be responsible for independently developing medical economics analyses and providing the consultative depth necessary to ensure leadership has a clear, credible understanding of medical cost performance, emerging risks, and future outlooks. This role requires a blend of technical mastery, professional judgment, and the ability to translate complex cost dynamics into actionable strategy.
Hiring Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Advanced degree preferred).
- Credentials: Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) are required. Fellowship (FSA) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of relevant actuarial or medical economics experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Significant exposure to Medicare Advantage or closely related lines of business.
- Note: In lieu of ASA, alternate actuarial credentials may be considered for candidates with exceptional experience.

Responsibilities
- Analyze & Synthesize: Produce high-level analytic output regarding medical cost, utilization, mix, and unit cost dynamics to identify emerging risks within the Medicare market.
- Strategic Translation: Distill complex data into clear recommendations and decision-relevant insights for executive leadership.
- Trend Mitigation: Proactively identify, size, and frame cost management opportunities using rigorous, transparent, and defensible analytics.
- Narrative Building: Integrate insights across medical economics domains into a cohesive, market-specific narrative to support financial planning.
- Consultative Support: Act as a subject matter expert for Finance and Medical Economics stakeholders, helping shape the interpretation and application of analytic results.
- Assumption Defense: Support the development and defense of market-specific trend and cost assumptions used in pricing and forecasting.
