OakLeaf Clinics - Imaging has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a part-time, 0.45 FTE, Mammography Technologist!
OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing our patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.
Position description
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations in accordance with MQSA, ACR, and departmental standards. This role emphasizes patient education, precision imaging, radiation safety, and compassionate care, particularly for patients undergoing breast health evaluations. The Mammography Technician functions independently in clinic or mobile settings and plays a key role in early detection and patient reassurance.
Responsibilities
- Performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams in compliance with MQSA, ACR, and facility protocols
- Verifies physician orders for accuracy, completeness, and clinical appropriateness
- Educates patients on the mammography process, compression techniques, and follow-up expectations in a supportive and sensitive manner
- Positions patients precisely to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring safety, comfort, and modesty
- Critiques images for positioning, exposure, motion, and artifacts; repeats images when necessary to achieve diagnostic quality
- Selects appropriate equipment settings and accessories based on patient anatomy and clinical indication
- Ensures proper patient identification using two identifiers prior to imaging
- Maintains strict adherence to radiation safety and infection control standards
- Utilizes PACS and RIS systems for accurate image documentation and data transfer
- Prepares exam rooms, cleans and disinfects equipment, and monitors supply levels
- Performs routine quality control checks and documents compliance per regulatory standards
- Identifies equipment issues, notifies the appropriate lead, and assists with vendor service coordination
- Obtains and maintains required mammography certification and continuing education
- Assists with scheduling, patient intake, chart preparation, and prior image retrieval as workflow allows
- Participates in departmental coverage and cross-training as appropriate
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Work a flexible schedule within the clinic or department hours based on clinical demand or need.
Salary: From $34 per hour, commensurate with experience
