Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years visually impaired experience required.

Seeking two experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support students across a PK-12 school system in the Suffolk, VA area for the 2025-2026 school year (August 4 to June 5). This full-time contract role offers flexibility in scheduling to accommodate varying school start times at elementary, middle, and high schools. The position is itinerant, serving 1-3 students per school across 11 schools, including five elementary, five middle, and seven high schools.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction and support tailored to students with visual impairments.
  • Collaborating with other educational staff when students have multiple disabilities, ensuring individualized learning plans.
  • Traveling between schools to maintain consistent service across the caseload.
  • Adjusting schedules to meet the unique needs of each school's day and student requirements.
  • Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in visual impairment instruction.
  • Experience working with PK-12 students with visual impairments.
  • Ability to manage an itinerant caseload and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying school schedules and student needs.
