Location: Seattle, WA (In-office or Remote) OR 100% remote, however, must reside in these states to work remotely: Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, Washington, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Montana, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Georgia, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Alabama.

Role Summary:
The Client Services Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of client financial services and ensuring timely, accurate reporting.

This role includes:

  • General Accounting: GL management, balance sheet, and reconciliations
  • Financial Reporting: Preparation of reconciled statements and compliance with policies
  • Payroll: Oversight of processing and reporting
  • Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable: Managing collections, payments, and vendor/client relationships
  • Client Onboarding & Accounting Cleanup: Transitioning new accounts and resolving historical discrepancies
  • You will ensure financial reports are accurate, compliant, and delivered to clients according to deadlines while building strong client relationships and leading a high-performing accounting team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the general accounting function, including inter/intra-company accounting, cash management, reconciliation, financial reporting, and balance sheet management
  • Lead client relationships, ensuring clear communication and timely deliverables
  • Evaluate and optimize departmental efficiency, removing obstacles to productivity
  • Ensure internal controls and policies are in place to protect company assets
  • Develop and improve accounting policies and procedures for greater efficiency
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to all client entities
  • Manage client onboarding, including driving cleanup and transition efforts
  • Perform accounting tasks at both detailed and high-level scopes
  • Ensure timely and accurate application of revenue recognition rules
  • Maintain company financial records in compliance with policies
  • Review account reconciliations and other documents for compliance
  • Supervise federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements, including payroll, property, sales, and use taxes
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to ensure accounting requirements are met
  • Build and lead a team of qualified financial personnel to meet organizational objectives
  • Drive team development and performance management

Required Degree / Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of public accounting and/or private industry accounting in a multidivisional business
  • Public accounting manager experience qualifies for required experience
  • Prior management experience required
  • Restaurant industry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of debits/credits, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and achieve company objectives
  • Experience in analyzing business performance and financial planning, preferably in the restaurant industry
