Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Nurse Manager position overseeing both a Cath Lab and ICU, requiring at least 1 year of management experience and active KS or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting managing both the Cath Lab and ICU departments
  • Cath Lab consists of 1 procedure room and 3 pre/post bays; ICU has 8 beds
  • Cath Lab patient population includes Cardiac, Vascular, EP, IR, and Non-Invasive Cardiology cases; ICU patient population includes Cardiac and Respiratory diagnoses such as Sepsis, DKA, STEMI/Non-STEMI, COPD exacerbation, and CKD
  • Cath Lab staffing ratio is 3–4 staff (RN/Tech) per case; ICU ratio is 1:2, with potential to increase to 1:3 depending on acuity
  • Pre/post Cath Lab bays require 2 ACLS-certified RNs
  • Titration of vasoactive and sedation drips required (Cath Lab: vasoactives, Heparin, IIbIIIa, blood products; ICU: Levophed, Vasopressin, Epi, Neo, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, Versed, Propofol, Fentanyl, Nimbex, Insulin)
  • Respiratory equipment includes O2 and End-Tidal CO2 in Cath Lab; vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow in ICU
  • All staff monitor and read telemetry strips; ICU nurses monitor their own patients and confirm strips every 4 hours
  • EMR: Epic
  • 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (0800–1600 for elective cases); 24/7 call coverage required
  • On-call required on weekends and holidays
  • Self-scheduling is available
  • Float requirement applies to all staff except the charge nurse; staff may be asked to assist other departments
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active KS or compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • BSN not required
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing management experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical leadership experience required
  • Critical care and/or telemetry experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC, and RCIS (via CCI); CRRT competency also required — candidates who meet the majority of requirements but lack some certifications may still be considered
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Candidate must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include bedside procedure support, pre/post procedure care, moderate sedation management, and nursing competency development
  • Role emphasizes culture-building and clinical leadership across both the Cath Lab and ICU departments
  • Charge nurse is preferred not to take a patient assignment
  • Hospital-laundered scrubs provided
  • Orientation is approximately 12 hours; clinicians must be on-site in state during the orientation week, even if initial modules are conducted remotely
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a CommonSpirit or affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity Health) within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Holiday on-call coverage is required
