Job Title: PRN Staff Pharmacist
Job Description
The Staff Pharmacist ensures the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications for long-term care and institutional patients in a closed-door, non-retail pharmacy environment. This role focuses on clinical verification, adherence to regulatory standards, effective collaboration with healthcare providers, and reliable support of day-to-day pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Dispense medications safely and accurately for long-term care and institutional patients in accordance with all applicable regulations and policies.
- Perform thorough clinical verification of medication orders to ensure appropriate therapy, dosing, and potential interaction management.
- Maintain strict compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards of practice.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and facility staff to clarify orders, resolve medication-related issues, and support optimal patient outcomes.
- Support daily pharmacy operations in a closed-door, non-retail setting, including order processing and coordination of medication distribution.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and quality by following established workflows, documentation requirements, and audit processes.
- Assist with pharmacy management tasks as needed to ensure efficient and continuous service to long-term care partners.
Essential Skills
- Active registration and good standing as a Registered Pharmacist.
- Demonstrated experience in pharmacy practice, with the ability to dispense medications accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of long-term care or institutional pharmacy practices and workflows.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and strong clinical judgment in reviewing and verifying medication orders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a closed-door, non-retail pharmacy environment.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy services.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management responsibilities and operational processes.
- Retail pharmacy experience that supports strong customer service and communication skills.
Work Environment
This position is based in a closed-door, non-retail pharmacy that serves long-term care and institutional patients. The role is PRN, typically offering approximately 10–15 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours in the future, although additional hours are not guaranteed. The schedule includes rotating weekend shifts as part of the coverage model. The environment is professional, team-oriented, and focused on accuracy, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service to partner facilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
