Our organization in Portland, OR, is seeking to hire a Board-Certified Staff Urologist Physician (or Board Eligible) dedicated to serving our Veterans—America’s Heroes. We are in search of a collaborative urologist capable of delivering general urology services. We are particularly interested in candidates with fellowship training or specialized interests in areas such as endourology, prosthetics, andrology, reconstruction, or urogynecology. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity for a faculty position at a prominent academic institution and will participate in the education and training of urology residents and other medical trainees. Our facility is a level 1a highly complex VA hospital and is part of a network that includes eight health care systems and 46 community clinics, collectively serving over 1 million veterans across Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Candidates should be board certified or eligible in urology surgery through the American Board of Urology or the National Board of Physicians & Surgeons, and must be U.S. citizens with an active medical license in any state, free from any history of revocations or suspensions. Non-citizens may be considered if no suitable U.S. citizen is available. Our team consists of six full-time urologists, four advanced practice practitioners, and three urology residents, with access to cutting-edge technologies both in and out of the operating room.
Our organization is a significant teaching and research hub closely linked with a leading academic institution. We host approximately 2,000 health profession learners each year and rank among the top 10 nationwide for research grant support, with over 170 investigators engaged in basic science, clinical, and health services research, and more than 1,000 active protocols. Our urology department is committed to research, with several team members actively involved in grant-supported projects.
The urology surgery service offers patient-centered, state-of-the-art urology care at our Portland campus. We provide a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient, long-term, and emergency services, catering to over 100,000 veterans annually. Recognized as a Magnet Facility, our organization is a complex facility that handles tertiary care referrals and serves as a liver and renal transplant center for veterans throughout the western United States. Our urology service addresses a wide array of surgical and non-surgical procedures.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong motivation to deliver top-tier clinical care to veterans while also providing world-class education and training to students and trainees. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to general urology but encourage those with specialized interests or fellowship training in endourology, prosthetics, andrology, reconstruction, or urogynecology to apply. Work Schedule: This is a full-time position that includes night, weekend, and holiday on-call responsibilities with resident coverage. Team members typically work a Monday to Friday, 8-hour schedule, although many are approved for condensed schedules (4 days per week, 10 hours each day).
